Jesus’ Kingly Presence

Encounters

In November of last year, I had an encounter with Jesus that undid me.

At the time, I thought I understood the fear of the Lord, until His Kingly presence shattered my pride and left me in overwhelming awe.

A Dream That Left Me Trembling

I had a dream where I was talking with a friend and another man. The conversation turned to the LGBTQ+ community, and my friend said, “You’ve got to be an ally.”

The man responded, “I get that. My wife is, and I am too.”

Then both of them looked to me and asked, “What about you, Quinn?”

I responded, saying:

“I’m an ally as far as I’ll love them and be their friend, but if you don’t fear God, you’ll face His wrath.”

The moment I said those words, blue lightning struck.
A bright, searing light flashed through my dream, and I woke up in absolute terror.

The King in My Room

When I woke up, King Jesus was in my room.

This wasn’t just a feeling; it was reality.
His presence was heavy, overwhelming, and utterly holy.

In that moment, I felt:

  • Miserable and small… as if I was standing before the throne of a King whose majesty was beyond comprehension.
  • Hopeless and exposed… like every sin I had ever committed was laid bare before His gaze.
  • A deep regret… for every moment I had questioned God, for every sin I had committed against Him, for every time I had taken His presence lightly.

I knew in that moment that He is Holy.

There was no room for excuses, for self-justification, or for anything else but absolute awe and surrender.

For a moment, I wondered if I could even survive in His terrifying presence.

I felt like if I made one wrong move, it would be the end of me.

The weight of God’s holiness can leave you feeling undone, but in His mercy, He doesn’t leave us in that state.

When the prophet Isaiah encountered God, he said this:

“Woe to me!” I cried. “I am ruined! For I am a man of unclean lips, and I live among a people of unclean lips, and my eyes have seen the King, the Lord Almighty.”

Like Isaiah, I was undone before the King.

However, right after Isaiah said this, God sent an angel to purify him from his sin.

In the same way, God reminded me that:

He loves me.

Even though…

  • His holiness is so potent that it’s terrifying
  • He has power over the entire universe
  • He’s beyond amazing, beyond understanding, and beyond our descriptions of beautiful
  • At the slightest glimpse of Who He is, I realize I have nothing to offer

Despite all this; He still loves me.

This is the paradox of Jesus. He is both the Majestic King and Loving Savior.

Dual-Edged Ministry

I want to return to the dream I had at the beginning of this blog.

The message is for everyone:

  • If you are LGBTQ+, from the church, an alcoholic, or an abuser… this applies to you.
  • If you are living in sin without repentance… this applies to you.
  • If you have rejected Jesus and do not fear God… this applies to you.

Understand that: God’s wrath is real.

And if you are not born again by His grace, you will face it.

This isn’t a popular message, but it is the truth.
Jesus didn’t redeem me so I could people-please.

He redeemed me to prophesy to the nations that He is King and He is coming back as Judge.

And yet… He desires mercy.
He wants to heal people.

This is part of the prophetic message of the Holy Spirit Movement, a movement of both judgment and healing.

Jesus will heal everyone who comes to Him for help.

But those who reject Him will spiritually die and eventually face His wrath.
His love is real, but so is His judgment.

The Good News

Maybe you’re reading this and realizing you don’t know where you stand with God.
Maybe you believe in God, but you don’t truly know Him.
The good news is that Jesus has made a way of escape from wrath.

The scriptures say in Romans:

“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God (…) the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.“ (Romans 3:23, 6:23)

Every single person has sinned, and sin separates us from God.

This isn’t just about breaking religious rules.

Sin is living life apart from God, doing things our own way instead of His way.
And because of sin, we are spiritually dead, meaning we are completely disconnected from a true relationship with God.

If we die in this state, we will face judgment and eternal separation from God.

This is what hell is: a place where God’s presence is fully there in all of its potency, yet it’s felt as wrath even though it’s love because there’s no covering for sin.

However, Jesus said in John 3:16

“God so loved the world that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.”

Jesus died on the cross to take the punishment for our sins.

Three days later, He rose from the dead, proving that He is King over death and the grave.

Now, He offers eternal life to anyone who will repent and believe in Him.

Let me explain true repentance through a simple analogy:

There were three men who claimed to represent God.

A person who had fallen into the mud came to them, desperate for help, a way to get clean.
Each man led the person to a shower, and then…

The first man said, “Before you get in the shower, you need to clean yourself off first.”

The second man said, “You don’t need the shower. You’re fine just as you are.”

But the third man simply said, “Just get in the shower. Let it clean you.”

💡 Jesus is like the shower.

Religion will tell you to clean yourself first before coming to Him.
The world will tell you that you don’t need Him at all.

But the truth is this:
All you need to do is come to Him

This is the heart of genuine repentance.

  • It’s not about fixing yourself first; it’s about stepping into Jesus’ presence and letting Him transform you.
  • It’s not just saying “I’m sorry,” it’s about surrendering and allowing God to clean you.
  • It’s not about being perfect; it’s about letting God change your direction and walking with Him.
  • It means that we agree with God about what is right and wrong, but recognize we’re powerless to make things right or change on our own.

God wants to purify you, not destroy you.

🔑 Now here’s the key: Jesus said in John 3:3:

“No one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again.”

What does that mean?

  • You receive a new heart, and God changes your desires and thoughts.
  • You become a new person, no longer ruled by sin, but led by Jesus.
  • You enter into a real relationship with God, not religion, but true friendship with Him.

When you come to Jesus, He supernaturally causes you to be reborn spiritually, giving you His Holy Spirit, and He begins working in you so that you change from the inside out.

Let me be clear:

This is not about being perfect.
If you still struggle with sin, Jesus still loves you.
What matters is the direction you’re heading.

Instead of hiding in shame, keep coming to Jesus; He is the One who cleans you up.

Final Thoughts

When I had my encounter with King Jesus, I realized how small and broken I was before Him.

I saw my sin laid bare. I felt my unworthiness. But then… He reminded me: He loves me.

He didn’t push me away.
He didn’t leave me there.
He cleaned me.

That’s what He wants to do for you.

You don’t have to be perfect.
You don’t have to fix yourself first.

You just have to come.

If you’re ready to know Jesus, pray this from your heart:

“Jesus, I know I have sinned. I know I have lived apart from You. But today, I come to You. I believe You died for me and rose again. I trust You to completely forgive me of my sins; past, present and future. I repent, and I choose to follow You as my King. Make me new. Fill me with Your Holy Spirit. I give my life to You. Amen.”
